Natural Dye Workshop- MAXIMUM CAPACITY REACHED

By UCR Botanic Gardens |
workshop

Join us on June 10, 2023, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, to learn the basics of natural dyeing, utilizing some native plants at the UCR Botanic Gardens. After a short walk to identify many plants that hold color potential, we will gather on the Gardens' patio to create a beautiful color palette on cloth using two dye vats and an iron modifier. You will be able to create patterns with simple tie and resist techniques. Each participant will receive one cotton and one silk bandana to dye. This workshop is designed for individuals seeking their first natural dye experience, but all levels are welcome! All materials provided. (To equitably distribute and also control the available color in the vats, we ask that you do not bring your own items to dye.)  Please wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes that you wouldn’t mind receiving a bit of potential staining. Age 12+
