Plant Sales

Plant Sale banner

For over four decades the UCR Botanic Gardens has hosted the largest plant sale events in the Inland Empire. Recently these events have been reimagined and redesigned to focus on offering visitors plants propagated from our own unique plant collection and bringing in local vendors to broaden the selection of plants suitable for the inland region.

Fall is the best time in California to plant perennials, shrubs, bulbs and wildflower seeds, as plants established in the fall and winter grow faster the next spring and require less water when summer arrives. We host our largest sale in the fall, our Garden Market & Plant Sale, showcasing Gardens-propagated horticultural and native plants, cacti and succulents, patio and house plants, water efficient plants, colorful landscape trees, and numerous species that attract native pollinators. Participating local vendors offer orchids, Plumeria, Australian plants, and other specimens, while Botanic Gardens staff, volunteers and UC Master Gardeners are available to answer questions. Friends members enjoy early admission in advance of the public sale.

Beginning in spring 2019 we will replace our public sale with a Spring Celebration & Member Appreciation Plant Sale. This unique event will be open only to our members and will be held on site in our upper nursery where our beautiful plants are propagated and grown. Members will have a chance to shop, see where the action takes place in the Gardens, visit special places such as the Greenhouse, Butterfly Garden, Rose Gardens, and Dome in their springtime splendor, and enjoy complimentary refreshments.

At all our sales, most of our plants will have a detailed information sign and color photo to help you make your selections. Plant Sale lists will be available on our website one to two weeks prior to each sale. To enjoy early admission to our Fall Garden Market & Plant Sale or exclusive admission to our Spring Celebration & Member Appreciation Plant Sale, you may become a member at https://myadv.ucr.edu/forms/UCRBG.
