LET'S GO BIRDING!
Birdwalk, Breakfast & More - listed below are several opportunities to bird the UCR Botanic Gardens on the weekend of April 27 and 28.
Spring is one of the best times for birding in the Gardens, please sign up for one or both birdwalks – make it a “Big Weekend”. The birdwalks are led by expert birders Janet Clegg and Norm Ellstrand who are very familiar with the birds of the Gardens and UCR Campus.
To ensure a quality birdwalk experience we limit attendance to 12 participants - RSVP early!
Saturday, April 27 we will be hosting a Spring Birdwalk which can be two birdwalks in one, – customize your own birdwalk experience! A Beginner’s Walk starts at 7:45 AM and a “35 species or Bust” Walk starts earlier at 7:15 AM. We bird the Gardens for several hours sighting and identifying birds followed by a continental breakfast in the Gardens conference room where we review our bird list.
Beginner’s walk is $17.50 for Members ; $25 for Non- Members.
“35 Species” walk is $25 for Members; $50 for Non-Members
Payment by check (payable to UC Regents) accepted the day of the birdwalk

Sunday, April 28 we will be hosting a very special campus bird walk, our second annual Birdwalk Extravaganza. The walk begins at the UCR Botanic Gardens but continues on to secret campus locations. Last year we sighted 50 bird species so the challenge is on for this year to match or add to that number! We end the morning with a continental breakfast and review of our bird list. Meet at the Gardens Gate at 7:15 AM.
Extravaganza Birdwalk is $30 for Members ; $60 for Non- Members.
Payment by check (payable to UC Regents) accepted the day of the birdwalk

Note! Comfortable walk shoes and a hat are recommended and binoculars are advised. Be prepared for uphill paths and uneven, unpaved surfaces.
